“Yeah, they’re real fun! ‘N’ y’know, Monopoly. Board game that’s got too many rules, s’then y’usually make your own rules t’play with friends.” She laughed quietly shaking her head.
“I used t’play it lots with m’family, ‘n’ that sounds like fun! The adults don’t wanna play those sort’f things with us anymore, not sure why.” She had an idea, but there was no real valid reason not to. Although her dad had secretly played a few games of tag when her mom wasn’t looking.
Her parents were some of the best in her mind. Ana put a stop to her own base, figuring that if she tried to make it any bigger she wouldn’t be able to reach the top of it. Snowman building was serious business. “Y’ready t’start the other parts?”
MONOPOLY that is
what it was. Board games that sounded weird. They also sounded boring, but Virgil
knew that it was polite not to mention that. “M-Maybe we could p-play sometime,”
he may be good, most likely he would not, buy hey. Anna naturally would have
more practice after all.
“A-adults are always a-acting like they’re b-better,” he
replied. Well most of them, but hey, Anna had not exactly met his ragtag group
of a family after all. “”SW-Well, when th-they’re n-not stressed.” Well from
what he assumed anyway, not that he considered it, his group were not exactly
adult-material after all.
Hearing her
question, Virgil quickly nodded. “I t-think so,” he exclaimed. Maybe if they
hurried they could make more before the day was done or before Anna had to go. “W-Which
part is n-next?” He made the main base did he not?
“All week?” That sounded amazing actually, she never thought of letting celebrations stretch out that far. However, in response to his question, she swayed her head side to side. “Well, sort’f, I mean I kind’f know the faces, but, I know the kids more than the parents.” Simply, she new everyone vaguely at best. Excluding the stated ones.
“Sure do, snowball fights ‘n’ stuff outside. Last year someone brought a monopoly board!” She skipped out of it, but watching her mom get passionate about it was sort of fun. Kneeling down the younger scooped up more snow in her hands, and smoothed out the bumps gingerly.
“What ‘bout you? Any games?"
“A-All
week,” he parroted with a nod. Hey, when they partied they partied hard, but it
was all worth it…even if they had to careful with food rations and cleaning up
later. “T-That should b-be a lot of kids t-then!” He commented, awe shining in
his eyes.
It sounded
fun!
“M-Monopoly?” He
had never heard of that game or seen it so that was that. “The s-snow ball
fi-fights sound fun,” Virgil replied as he rolled the snowball some more. This
piece would become the middle would it not? Hopefully.
“T-Tons, but it
d-depends who w-wants to play. H-Hide and s-seek, p-play fights…t-tag, a
b-bunch of g-games!”
Very seriously, or as seriously as the 12 year old can get. Which was a surprising amount.
“Sure! That sounds like fun, d’you celebrate ‘em on the same day?” Maybe she could just come earlier and then be home by dinner. That would be a very busy holiday, but fun, by the sound of it.
She swayed her head side to side, “well, yeah, lots’f food, lots’f company. Sometime’s it’s like a lil gathering in Snowman. People come by ‘n’ we all just celebrate together, but w’never have that much food, it’s more like a snack table… ‘Least till most go ‘n’ it’s just me ‘n’ my parents.” Only then was it time for a good meal.
“The c-celebration–I-it’s all w-week,” He explained. Therefore, in reality Anna could stop by whenever she wanted to. That saying, she would have to get up the mountain unless they moved down for once.
He would ask around.
“G-gathering?” That sounded fun, maybe he could bring some food over if he got permission to. “S-so you g-get to m-meet a bunch of p-people?” Snowman was not a very big town if he recalled, but still.
That must have been many people. He stopped walking. The foundation for the snowman was good. With careful hands, he smoothed off any extra snow, time to make the middle of it. “D-Do you p-play games or anyth-thing?”
They battled and ran, but there was no only fifteen…sixteen, sixteen of them. Seventeen if he counted the ghost, but–
“Food’s somethin’ that makes y’feel full. Physically, but y’know, sometime’s it can feel like you’re spiritually full too.” She almost embarrassed after saying that, almost. Been called naive before? Yes. Then again, there was also Teddy who said that the holidays were just a way to get more money.
Ah, that was one thing she had disagreed with. But—
“Taller than me? Y’got that much food?” Well she shouldn’t surprised with her 4’8" height. Especially when they were feeding more than just 3 mouths. Sure people came to eat on Sunday occasionally, making it around 8 people, but even so, Virgil spoke of an actual meal!
That’s intense. “Must be fun.”
“I g-guess so!” Virgil replied before tittering at the blonde’s response. Food makes one feel full? That’s pretty funny, but he had a feeling that Anna had meant that seriously.
“T-Taller than you, w-well Jack grows a p-part just the w-week.” He explained. Of course that meant they could only have portions, but they managed to figure it out.
They had an entire forest to work with after all.
“I-It is. Y-You c-could visit if you w-wanted too.” He wouldn’t mind having her over. He was sure she’d get along with the Pokemon fine so there’d be no problem.
Forest and snow. A tribe, a thriving one, but one that lived with those creatures she heard of. Pokemon, strange, she paid attention anyway. Ana smoothed out her growing snowball and kept it as round as possible.
“I see, d’you guys have any huge holidays? Y’know, just things y’do like customs ‘n’ stuff. I hear tribes work way diff’rent than they would here in Snowman.” Rituals were important, or so she learned in school.
“Y-Yeah! We als-so ce-celebrate Christmas and s-stuff, b-but we have d-different names f-for them.” He explained. Christmas was Leaf-Bare, Halloween was Ghost Haunting, and ect ect.
It was rather strange, he had to admit, but that’s how it worked. “B-But a-all of o-our s-self made ones u-usually in-involve f-food.” Like the feast of Victini was coming up soon.
“Yessir, I got t’round ‘em both up ‘N’ bring ‘em over sometime. It’ll b’fun, but they’ve been busy with their own things. Can’t spend… All our time together, y’know.” Distance although ‘conquered’ frequently did have its toll.
It’s fine. She dealt well on her own now anyhow, “What ‘bout you, y’said y’had some friends you’d build with.” She wanted to hear, Ana stopped rolling and pat her snowball attempting to make the form more solid.
"O-Oh,” he understood the whole distance dilemma. His blood relations lived way to far for even a message to be sent out. He’d gotten used to it, but it was hard sometimes really.
“M-My family?” His adoptive one in a sense?
“W-We all l-live together.” He started, slowly coming to a stop in his movements as well. “A-And there’s a lot f-foresty stuff and s-snow.”
“W-We’re kinda like…Like a tr-tribe actually. W-We grow our f-food, live along Pokem-mon…” Soon he started to ramble about the people living there and the creatures that resided on Mt. Silver.
“Yeah I make loads’f ‘em with m’friends!” She pointed to a rather worn down wall of snow. Not very tall, but tall enough that she could hide behind it if she were crouching. “Made this with two’f ‘em."
"Kind’f worn down ‘cause it’s not done, w’also a battle right after gettin’ down th’base.” Who could resist a good snowball fight anyhow? She begun rolling her own piece current snowball hoping that it would gain mass quickly.
A good, solid, and relatively big snowman. That sounded good.
His gaze followed her finger until he saw what she had been referring to. That was purely snow? It must’ve been there for a quite a while…“O-Oh.” He usually ended up using trees and rocks and–well that’s something for another time.
“T-That’s not d-done?” He could barely believe it, that was huge.He couldn’t wait to see to finished project. He turned from the wall back to the younger blond.
He nodded and continued with his ball, packing it with snow, and rolling it around every so often.
He tried. That’s what matters. “Snowman it is, wgot loads’f things that can b’done. Y’know-! I’m sure y’know.” Tunnels, statues, igloos, and, of course, snow forts.
“Then let’s start rollin’! I got this scarf t’give it, w’can name ‘im too.” That will be fun.
“M-My friends and I-I make th-them a-alot,” but then they usually end up in a snowball fight and never actually finishing their snowmen. Whoops.
“Alr-right!” How to start…How to start.
That’s right.
With that ‘command’ Virgil started packing snow into a compact little sphere so he could eventually add more.
Something told him he’d never end up finishing this snowman as well.
“Let’s build a snowman.” She outstretched her arms in the air. “Y’know, n honor’f where I come from. ‘Nless y’want t’do somethin’ else…” No plans to control anything here.
“I’m ‘lright with anythin’ y’wanna do. What d’you want t’do?”
He didn’t mind building a snowman…He lived in snow, he’s pretty much immune to the coldness at this point. "I d-don’t mind building a s-snowman.” He admitted before pausing.
Wow, he was so used to following others…What did he wanna do?
“I’ll t-think of someth-thing, but let’s build that s-snowman!”
Very happy. The boy still wasn’t entirely used to be being a guy at all. Anthony wasn’t his name after all! It was Ana! It wasn’t so bad though, just had to tell his parents and see at would happen from there. Sounded safe. “Y’don’t… Come from here either?”
Well. Oh.
“Nah it’s fine! W’can go lookin’! Sounds like fun doesn’t it?” Ana takes a few steps to his side and scans their surroundings. “y’with me?”
“N-No.” He admitted as he watched the blond look around. “I l-live on Mt. S-Silver now.” He added as he trotted over.
Fun?
Well it sounded fun yeah!
“Y-Yeah!” He replied with a bright smile and a twinkle of eyes. “W-Where f-first?” He questioned as he tapped his fingers against his side. “A-Anywhere w-works.”
An incredible amount of control over his telepathy doesn’t let Anthony hear what he’d consider a compliment. “I got m’eyes from m’mom, apples don’t fall far from th’tree’s right?” He chuckles.
“Ah, well Virgil! I come from Snowman.” He can’t contain the happy noise that comes from being called Ana, good, he was still Ana. Not a boy, psh, not at all. “Let’s find you a new hat! I can’t garuntee it’ll b’as good ‘s mine but—! I’m sure w’can find a real nice one. A white one!” That would be nice wouldn’t it?
“…. Now where’s th’store ‘round here?” Great start.
The swordsman tittered once more at the small pleasant noise the other male made. Was Ana a special name? It had to be if he made that noise…
Ah, whatever. If it made the blond happy then who cared? “Sn-Snowman?” Somehow he can’t believe that title for a town, but some places he’s visited have been pretty strange so–
“M-Maybe we sh-should a-ask around?” He recommended before flattening the white clothes he sported. “Wh-White works w-with me!” He added, referring to the blond’s previous comment.
